NDIS Disability Support Services
The Family Approach
Do you want to be treated like more than just a number in the system? With my background in running a small family business for over 32 years and knowing how important our clients were, I have set out to make sure that no matter how big we grow, we will always maintain that family feel and service.
We have a hand-picked team of amazing staff who not only love working together but also love the work they do with our clients. Our staff go the extra mile to make our clients feel safe, happy and heard in their environment.
In big agencies, it's easy to get lost in the system and have a rotation of staff providing your support. By choosing Friends Who Care, you become part of the FWC community, get the family business service and have a reliable and trustworthy team to support you.
“Friends Who Care don’t simply provide just ‘another’ support worker for me, they take the time and effort in matching my support with my needs and personality. It’s almost like a matchmaking service that goes beyond providing a basic support service.”
— Karen
Social & Community Access
We support you to get out and about, stay connected and enjoy the things that are important to you.
Support can be as simple as going out for lunch or a coffee, shopping, seeing a movie, attending an appointment, joining a group or activity, visiting somewhere you enjoy, or working towards becoming more confident and independent in the community.
At Friends Who Care, we take the time to get to know you and match you with a support worker who suits your personality, interests and support needs. Our aim is for your time in the community to feel comfortable, enjoyable and worthwhile — while supporting you to work towards your NDIS goals.

In-Home Support
Sometimes it's the everyday things at home that you need a little help with. Friends Who Care can provide practical support with day-to-day activities around your home, based on what you need and want to achieve.
This might include help getting dressed and ready for the day, organising or cleaning out cupboards, putting things away, changing bed linen, preparing things for the day ahead or helping with other everyday household tasks.
The support doesn't have to fit neatly into a particular box. We will talk with you about what you need help with and, where appropriate, support you to do as much as you can for yourself while assisting with the things you find difficult.

Personal Care & Morning Routines
Sometimes a little support can make the morning routine easier and help you start the day feeling organised and ready.
Friends Who Care can provide prompting and support with everyday personal routines, including getting ready for the day, choosing clothes, assistance with dressing and prompting with personal care tasks where appropriate.
Our approach is to encourage independence wherever possible. We provide the level of support you need while allowing you to continue doing the things you can safely manage for yourself.

Shopping Support
Shopping can be easier and more enjoyable with the right support. Friends Who Care can assist you with your regular grocery shopping or other shopping you need or want to do.
Your support worker can help you prepare for your shopping trip, get to and from the shops, find the things you need and provide practical assistance while you're there.
Shopping can also be an opportunity to build confidence and maintain independence in the community. We'll provide the level of support you need while encouraging you to make your own choices and remain as independent as possible.

Life Skills & Independence
Building confidence with everyday skills can make a real difference to your independence.
Friends Who Care can support you to learn, practise or maintain everyday life skills based on your individual goals. This might include cooking and meal preparation, shopping, using public transport, planning activities, organising your day, completing everyday tasks or becoming more confident getting out into the community.
Everyone starts from a different place, so support is tailored to you. Our role is not to take over, but to work alongside you and help you build confidence and independence at your own pace.

Overnight Support / Respite
Sometimes clients and their families need support that extends beyond a regular daytime shift. Friends Who Care can provide overnight support and respite based on the individual needs of the client and the supports available in their NDIS plan.
Respite can provide a change of routine, new experiences and time away from the usual home environment, while also giving family members and carers a break from their usual caring responsibilities.
We take the time to understand the client's needs, interests and preferences and plan the support around the individual. This may include support at home or overnight stays away from home, depending on what is suitable and appropriately funded.

Everyday Organisation & Life Admin
Everyday paperwork and admin can quickly become overwhelming. Friends Who Care can provide practical support to help you stay organised and keep on top of the everyday things that need to be done.
This might include helping you organise and respond to emails, book appointments, make phone calls, keep track of important dates, organise paperwork, follow up problems with bills or accounts, or work through other everyday administrative tasks.
We work alongside you rather than taking over. You remain in control of your personal information, money and decisions, while your support worker provides practical assistance to help you get things sorted.

We understand that every situation is different. Our support workers can assist with sorting and organising belongings, reducing clutter and creating a safer and more manageable home environment.
We work with you, not around you. Decisions about your belongings remain yours, and our role is to provide practical assistance and encouragement while respecting your choices and your home.
Whether you need help tackling one area or ongoing support to make gradual progress, we can work with you towards your individual goals.

Cooking can also be a great way to build or maintain everyday skills and independence — and sometimes it's simply enjoyable to cook together. Whether it's preparing dinner for the family or baking a cake or slice to enjoy with a cuppa, we'll tailor the support to what you want to do.
